The heart of the ship remains Seabourn Square, at the back of the ship on Deck 6. This multi-use space has guest services, a library, a coffee and snack bar and an outdoor area – all with plenty of comfy seating. The Club has been reborn on Seabourn Venture as a chic lounge that serves sushi before and during the dinner hour. The Suites
Seabourn Venture attracts the same wealthy clientele that you find on the line’s larger ships. On our sailing, about 80 percent of the passengers were previous Seabourn cruisers. It’s an international mix, with people coming from all over the world. All rooms on Seabourn Venture are attractive and spacious, all of which come with balconies.

The ship’s expedition team consists of 26 Antarctic experts, each specializing in a different fauna. The Constellation Lounge offers Seabourn’s popular Early Morning Riser continental breakfast, while afternoons features the line’s popular and recently enhanced Afternoon Tea service. Steeped in the tradition of proper English tea service, yet as fresh and memorable as a newly brewed pot, the elegant daily tea service incorporates the finest luxury tea brand TWG Tea. As the sun dips and the night sky lights up, live piano entertainment delights guests as cocktails and tapas are served both before and after dinner. There are other public spaces on the ship, such as the expedition lounge. The expedition lounge is the meeting point for kayak and submarine excursions.

The journey was verysmooth, even the Drake's Passage each way didn't create too much of a problem; Iwasn't aware of anyone feeling ill. Binoculars are provided in every suite which were a greatbenefit and could be used on board and on tour. Although, I cannot stress enough, no matter who you go with, you will spend the majority of your time on the ship. With so many penguin colonies and the largest glaciers on this earth, stable land is limited which results in more time on the ship than off of it. My V1 suite was very comfortable with a large seating areaadjacent to the balcony. Each suite has a drying cabinet with a radiator and hangingspace, perfect for drying any wet or damp clothes betweenexpeditions. This buffet restaurant was open every day for breakfast, lunchand dinner and on a few occasions during the cruise the evening waschanged to a themed dinner with waiter service. I personally was offloaded from a submarine during a surprise storm and now understand why they do not operate them except in pristine conditions. Not only was getting back to the boat cold and wet, but it was very difficult to transfer from the submarine to the zodiac during the windstorm which created whitecaps. Our weather on the first and last day was cloudy and damp withsome snow but for the five days in between we had sunshine and bluesky which set off the beauty of our surroundings perfectly.

Not only is it really the only way to get here (charters aren’t an option, although you can fly), it’s also where innovation occurs. We went aboard to see what fresh advantages this ship has over the competition. There is no pool deck, per se aboard Seabourn Venture, at least in the traditional cruise ship sense. Instead, there’s an infinity pool and hot tubs at the back of the ship on Deck 5, outside the Patio/Colonnade. The ship is also firmly Seabourn, with all the luxury touches required by its discerning clientele.

Weddell seals, humpback whales, Adélie penguins, and storm petrels are known to make an appearance whether you’re soaking in the ship’s hot tub or sipping TWG Earl Grey during afternoon tea in the Constellation Lounge. While roughly 50 or so cruise ships now serve this market, the ultra-luxe segment is still the tip of the spear.
